The dramatic increase in Umrah numbers has prompted Saudi authorities to increase coordination efforts and set up a new operations room to respond in real time and improve the overall experience for pilgrims. Saudi ArabiaTawfiq Al-Rabiah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah, announced the launch of a special operations room aimed at addressing the challenges faced by pilgrims arriving from abroad and streamlining services during their stay. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other relevant agencies, marks a coordinated, cross-sectoral approach to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims performing the rituals. Al-Rabiah, speaking at the opening of the Umrah and Qiara Forum in Madinah, said the ministry and related entities are fully prepared to adapt to regional changes and growing needs. He revealed that 18 million Umrah pilgrims arrived from outside the Kingdom this year, an increase of more than 214% compared to 2022 and 2025. He also commended the Kingdom’s leadership for its continued support in expanding and strengthening the Umrah sector. The minister noted that the quality of services has improved significantly, noting that pilgrim satisfaction has climbed to 94% by 2025. He also highlighted that the number of tourists visiting Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah has increased significantly, recording more than 15.6 million visitors. In addition to this, significant progress has been made in the development of historic sites, contributing to a wider and richer pilgrimage experience. The third forum itself reflected the scale of growth in the industry. It brings together more than 150 exhibitors and includes 50 workshops focused on enhanced services and innovation. More than 5,000 agreements will be signed with the aim of strengthening partnerships and overall improving the quality and efficiency of Umrah and visitation services.
