hilly country College Preparatory High School in Bulverde is now out of lockdown Monday morning after a shooting nearby and local law enforcement agencies are responding to the situation.
The Austin American-Statesman reported that Superintendent Julie Wiley communicated with parents and informed them that lockdown protocols were initiated at 8:34 a.m., coinciding with the shooting near the school.
“Students and staff are in safe areas and the threat has been contained,” Wiley said.
Comal County Representative Sheriff’s The office was dispatched to Mustang Vista near the school on a report of shots fired. One person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. However, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
It is unclear whether the suspect is in custody.

Hill Country College Preparatory High School: Is lockdown still in effect?
As of 9:20 a.m., the lockdown was still in effect. However, Wiley said in a subsequent update that “the threat has been contained.”
The building was secured to ensure the safety of students and staff, according to law enforcement.
Students will be taken to the Bulverde Middle School campus at 29975 Wiley Road in Bulverde to be reunited with their parents.
The public is asked not to approach the area unless they are picking up students so officers can effectively clear the scene.
