According to multiple reports in the American EDM music industry, DJ Dan (real name Dan Wherret) has passed away. While DJ Dan’s family has yet to release a statement, his friends and acquaintances have posted about him on social media die.

Famed DJ Steve Gloria, who called DJ Dan a “brother,” wrote on Facebook along with a photo of him and DJ Dan, “It breaks my heart to see the loss of yet another good friend, brother, and OG DJ partner.”
“I have nothing to say. It’s just heartbreaking. It hurts,” Loria added.
As of now, the cause of death of the DJ and EDM producer has not been confirmed. There are many claims about him circulating on social media, but none are confirmed.
DJ Dan has built his music career in the West Coast electronic music scene, specifically in Los Angeles. Mike Franconi, a DJ from Hawaii who was friends with DJ Dan, paid tribute to the latter with a heartfelt social media post and a photo of them together.
“We were supposed to end LIB together on May 20th. I love your fish. RIL DJ Dan,” Franconi wrote on Facebook.

Who is DJ Dan?
DJ Dan has been a key figure in West Coast house music since his days in the rave scene in the late 1980s. He started in the clubs of Seattle, moved to Los Angeles for underground acts like No-Doz, and then san francisco In 1993, he formed the influential Funky Tekno Tribe group.
DJ Dan has released albums such as Beats 4 Freaks (1998), Funk the System (1999) and Future Retro (2010). He has also produced remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson. He subsequently founded InStereo Recordings, which headlined global music festivals such as EDC and Ultra.
DJ Dan grew up in Olympia, Washington. He moved to Seattle and lived in the city from 1988 to 1990. It was in Seattle that he was first exposed to the electronic dance music genre, an influence he would continue throughout his career.
