Guthrie was reported missing from her home on February 1 by her family, and authorities believe she was taken away the night before. More than a month later, Guthrie has still not been found. Authorities have not named any suspects in the case.

However, given Guthrie’s advanced age, finding her was a matter of urgency. Investigators said it would be beneficial if they could find her sooner because Guthrie is unlikely to be in good health without the drugs found in her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson. Guthrie reportedly had a pacemaker, heart disease and high blood pressure.

As time went on, several reports suggested that, although authorities were operating under the assumption that the octogenarian was still alive, hope and expectation would have to be met to find Guthrie alive.

Among them, Fox 10 cameraman Rick Davis shared a video of a body found in the Scottsdale area and noted that detectives will work with the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.

The video he shared showed people working below where the body was found, with two police vehicles standing behind and a crane behind it. Several people asked whether the discovery had anything to do with Nancy Guthrie’s case. However, local police confirmed in a subsequent statement that the body was not related to the Nancy Guthrie case.

Despite concerns, there has been no official confirmation that the case is in any way related to Guthrie’s abduction. Scottsdale police at statementsaid: “A death investigation is ongoing after the body of an adult female was found in a canal near Indian Bend Road and Hayden Road on March 28. Police and fire personnel were first called to the area around 8 a.m. after someone walking along the canal saw the body in the water.”

They added: “Responding police and fire personnel, in coordination with SRP and CAP, recovered the body from the water and began a death investigation. Scottsdale detectives and crime scene experts responded to the scene to collect evidence and thoroughly document the scene. Due to the condition of the body, investigators were initially unable to confirm the presence of traumatic injuries. The investigation is still in its early stages and detectives are working to confirm the identity of the individual and how they ended up in the canal.”

While the official identification of the body is still pending, many on the X are skeptical that the body found in Scottsdale may have some connection to the Tucson case.

“Anyone who lives in metro Phoenix knows they pull a body out of the canal every month. It’s definitely not Nancy Guthrie,” one person explain. another simple point out “This isn’t Nancy.”
