University of Alabama student James Gracie’s His brother has paid a heartbreaking tribute to the man after his body was found floating in the Mediterranean outside a club in Barcelona. The Instagram post included photos of the two playing a hockey game, family photos from Christmas and the holidays, and a photo of the two brothers hugging each other.

“I don’t know what to say or how to handle this to my beautiful brother Jimmy. I can’t believe it. I’m going to miss all the texts and phone calls about hockey, school, and life. I’m not ready to say goodbye to any of that. All the random inside jokes and mommy not knowing what we’re talking about,” brother Tommy Gracie wrote.

“I still don’t know what you did in Ignatius to become so popular. People still ask me if I’m your brother. I guess you really don’t want to tell me. I don’t know how to get through this or carry on your place in the family. Your courage means a lot to all of us. It was inspiring. All the boat trips and night swims in the lake. I couldn’t say goodbye yet. I would do anything just to talk to you again. I fell in love with Ignatius Hockey and I was able to attend almost every game. Playing at Alabama, I will miss visiting fraternities at Alabama and going to random places on campus and you were always trying to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Tommy added, “I love that we talk about the Red Wings and other sports teams. Every time I get a notification that you call or text me, I smile. When I first went to visit you in Bama, I ran into your arms and it’s a memory I will always cherish, Thank you. Thank you for everything. I can’t believe it’s over. I’ll do my best to carry on your legacy. I can’t wait to see you again in eternity.”

What happened to James Gracie?

James, 20, an Illinois native, was last seen on spring break at 3 a.m. on March 17 after a night of partying at popular seaside nightclub Shoko Barcelona. Surveillance video shows him stumbling on the shore and falling into the water. His body was discovered on March 19, according to El Pais newspaper, citing authorities.

James’ cell phone was found to have fallen into the wrong hands. His family said they were unsure whether his phone was lost or stolen before his death.

Barcelona police have Publicly stated that James’ death was an accident. However, investigators have not ruled out the possibility that he was drugged before falling to his death. A source told Fox News Digital that police privately suspect James was under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both when he drowned.
