After Air Force Technologies passed away, the financing effort began. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, a Bardstown native and mother, has amassed more than $50,000 to date. Goals of the program to fund me The goal is to raise $50,000 to help Pruitt’s family.

Pruitt is assigned to the 6th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, according to a Defense Department press release issued Saturday. She was killed along with five others when a KC-135 tanker crashed in western Iraq on March 12. The incident is currently under investigation.

Ashley B. Pruitt: GoFundMe launched

Pruitt, 34, lives in Bardstown with her husband, 3-year-old daughter and stepson, according to the GoFundMe page.

According to the GoFundMe page, Pruitt joined the U.S. Air Force in the spring of 2017 and discovered her passion for the role of a boom operator. “Ashley takes great pride in her job and supporting the mission every day. As a TSgt., she is also a leader who cares deeply about the Airmen she works with.”

“She worked hard for the family she always wanted and cherished them all. Ashley’s passing leaves an unimaginable hole for her family, friends and fellow Airmen,” the page reads.

She was the second person in Kentucky killed during Operation Epic Fury, the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran that began on February 28.

Sgt. Benjamin Pennington killed in attack on Prince Sultan Air Force Base

Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, of Glendale, died March 8 after being wounded in a March 1 attack on Prince Sultan Air Force Base in Saudi Arabia, according to the Department of Defense.

Pennington is a member of the 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Rep. Candy Massaroni and Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R-Bardstown, issued a joint statement on Pruitt’s death, saying she “made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country overseas.”

“The sacrifices of Ashley and her fellow soldiers are a powerful reminder that the freedoms we enjoy at home are defended by brave Americans who are willing to put themselves in harm’s way,” the statement said. “Her service reflects an unwavering commitment to something greater than herself.”
