Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday dismissed reports about its members PakistanTeams at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup have been fined for failing to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir denied reports circulating in a section of the media about financial penalties being imposed on players.
“No players have been fined but the board is thinking of coming up with a formula for the players as they will get a lot of incentives when they perform well,” Mir told reporters here.Mir added that Pakistani players currently earn close to PKR 6-7 crore each and the board is exploring ways to more closely link accountability with performance.“But nothing is final and no players have been fined,” he added. Some reports claimed that each Pakistani player was fined PKR 5 million after the team withdrew from the global tournament after failing to reach the semi-finals.The core contracts that Pakistani cricketers get include monthly retainer fees, match fees, tour fees and different forms of victory bonuses. In addition to these earnings, players also receive a share of the logo sponsorship deals obtained by the board.Last year, the two sides also agreed that the players would receive a 3% share of the PCB’s annual revenue from the International Cricket Council, which is expected to be close to $34 million annually.
