A rural campus is using biogas and methane to combat a crisis. contingency plan

At a time when long queues to buy LPG cylinders are increasingly common, a rural campus near Vadodara in Gujarat offers a sustainable alternative. The Muni Seva Ashram campus in Goraj has a solar kitchen and biogas system to prepare meals for nearly 5,000 people every day without relying on LPG. The campus also houses a cancer hospital and research center. At the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the temple committee is formulating contingency plans. Temple committee PRO Ashish Phalwadiya said: “We have not experienced any supply chain disruption, whether it is Papua New Guinea or commercial LPG cylinders, but contingency measures are being worked out.” Around 40 quintals of laddu prasadam are produced daily at the laddu unit, which uses commercial LPG gas. The temple is one of the 12 Jyoti Lingas of Lord Shiva and receives 150,000 to 200,000 devotees every day. 5,000 to 7,000 people dine at annakshetra every day.
