New Delhi: Two days after leading India to victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav Still absorbing the enormity of this achievement, which puts him alongside greats like Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, who all led India to win the ICC Trophy.Soon after returning from Ahmedabad where the Indian national cricket team clinched a record third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title on Sunday, Suryakumar reflected on the team’s successful campaign and its future ambitions.

“It feels good to win 24 and 26 games in a row. It is a very special feeling. When we won in 2024, we thought it would be very special to do it again at home in 2026,” Surya told PTI video from his residence.“The next target is to win the Olympic gold medal in 2028. The team has good momentum and it would be great if India can win the T20 World Cup in the same year.”Drawing comparisons with the likes of Rohit and Dhoni, he added: “It feels good to join this elite company. I am slowly getting the feel for it. It is a very special feeling to talk about it among such good people. I will try to do the same in the future and help India win more trophies.”In June, Rohit captained India when they ended their ICC trophy drought with victory in Bridgetown during the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Dhoni led India to victory in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, 2011 ICC ODI World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.Before them, Kapil Dev led India to its first major global title by winning the 1983 ODI World Cup.
