Billionaire investor and financier George Soros has been placed under quarantine, an announcement has gone viral on social media house arrest There are calls for the Justice Department to investigate his organization, the Open Society Foundations. However, these claims are false. George Soros is not under house arrest, and his son, Alexander Soros, is not fleeing the United States. As of now, the U.S. Department of Justice has not launched an investigation into George Soros, but there are reports that they considered doing so at one point.

The post said federal agents surrounded Soros’ estate in Katonah, New York, and placed him under house arrest. His son, Alexander Soros, allegedly fled Teterboro Airport on a private plane at 3:22 a.m. on March 6. DubaiThe post claims that preceded the alleged federal crackdown.

The post falsely claimed the crackdown was related to an executive order signed by former Donald Trump.

It also claims that multiple district attorneys funded by Soros are under federal investigation. It also links Soros to the late financier’s financial network Jeffrey Epstein.

However, there is no reliable evidence to support these claims.

Is the US Department of Justice investigating George Soros and OSF?

In September 2025, multiple media outlets reported that a senior Justice Department official directed federal prosecutors in multiple states to prepare for potential investigations into OSF. Prosecutors were asked to explore whether criminal charges could be applied.

The directive was sent to U.S. attorney’s offices in California, New York, Illinois, Michigan and Maryland, among others, ABC News reported.

The directive reportedly follows political pressure and accusations from conservative groups and politicians that OSF-funded organizations support protests or activist groups related to the riots, wall street journal the report said. However, OSF denied the accusations and said it “unequivocally condemns terrorism.”

To date, no public charges or substantiated criminal investigations have been announced against OSF.
