What we know so far

Anyone with information about the 2022 white Subaru Outback with license plate U560YF in the past 24 hours is asked to call the dispatch center at 435-896-6471. Officials believe the vehicle is connected to a suspicious death in Wayne County.

“We are seeking information on a 2022 white SUBARU OUTBACK 10-28 UT/ U560YF that has been involved in a suspicious death outside of Wayne County. If you have seen this vehicle in the past 24 hours, please contact dispatch at 435-896-6471. More information will come from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office,” Sevier Utah Emergency Management posted on Facebook.

Wayne County officials confirmed that other law enforcement agencies are taking action in the area to “ensure the safety of all residents.” The public is asked to keep their lights on, their doors locked, and to stay home with others when possible.

“Due to recent events in Wayne County today, WCSO is asking all residents to take extra precautions by keeping their lights on, locking their doors, and staying home tonight or with others if possible,” the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Utah wrote on Facebook. “Multiple law enforcement agencies are currently in the area. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are taking action to ensure the safety of all residents.”

Meanwhile, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office in Utah also shared the alert, writing: “Due to recent incidents, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has asked residents to stay indoors, lock their doors, and keep their lights on. Authorities are also searching for a 2022 white Subaru Outback that may be involved in suspicious deaths in Wayne County. There are no confirmed threats in San Juan County, but please remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to dispatch or call 911.”

Wayne County closures

The Wayne County School District said its schools will be closed Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6. “Due to ongoing events in the county, out of an abundance of caution and concern for student and public safety, schools will be closed tomorrow and Friday. We will also have counselors available to support students when classes resume next week. We will provide updates as events develop,” the district wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Wayne Community Health Center also announced it will remain closed Thursday, as will the Kazan Memorial Clinic. “Due to recent events, the WCHC and Kazan Memorial Clinic will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, March 5. We appreciate your understanding.” Say it on Facebook>say on facebook.
