New Delhi: Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish KumarJDU sources told news agency ANI that Trump, who currently leads the state government with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party, may go to the House of Representatives.The confirmation from JDU sources is in stark contrast to earlier reports that Nitish Kumar had given his consent for his son Nishant Kumar to contest the Upper House polls.As the situation unfolded, senior leader and Bihar minister Vijay Chaudhary reached the residence of JDU national working president Sanjay Jha in Patna. Nitish Kumar’s close aide and JDU MLC Sanjay Gandhi was present at the meeting.Union Minister and JDU leader Ram Nath Thakur also arrived at Sanjay Jha’s residence.However, Union Minister Giriraj Singh dismissed speculation that Nitish Kumar may resign and enter the Rajya Sabha.“Such jokes are common during Holi. Nitish Kumarji is our chief minister,” Singh said.Meanwhile, Sanjay Gandhi told news agency ANI that the decision on Nitish Kumar’s entry into the Union House rests entirely with the chief minister.“The chief minister will personally decide (whether he wants to go to the federal house)… We have held a meeting based on the polls to strengthen the organization,” he said.The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha to fill 37 seats in 10 states, with the tenure of the current members ending in April 2026, a news report said.These seats will fall vacant as the terms of elected legislators from Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana end next month.According to the schedule, the notification will be issued on February 26, marking the beginning of the election process. The last date to submit nominations is March 5, while scrutiny will take place on March 6. Candidates have until March 9 to withdraw their nominations.Voting will be held on March 16, with counting scheduled for 5 pm that day.
